As the winter season approaches, pollution levels in Delhi-NCR have started rising once again. At the same time, the case is going on in the Supreme Court. Where the Central Government has stated that it is considering forming a permanent body by enacting legislation to deal with the issue of air pollution caused by burning straw in Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh in Delhi, NCR.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Center, sought stay on the apex court’s October 16 order appointing former Supreme Court judge Madan B Lokur as a one-man commission.

On the Centre’s request, the Supreme Court also stayed its October 16 order, in which former judge Madan B. Lokur was appointed as a one-man commission to submit a report on air pollution.
