The 35th match of the IPL was played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad in Abu Dhabi on Sunday (October 18). The match ended in a draw. But Kolkata won the match in the Super Over. This was Kolkata’s fifth victory. Kolkata have done something after 11 years by winning the match in the Super Over.
Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bat. Batting first, Hyderabad scored 163 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Chasing this challenge, Kolkata also lost 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs and scored only 163 runs. Therefore, a super over was played to settle the match which ended in a draw.
Batting first in the Super Over, Hyderabad lost 2 wickets and scored 2 runs. Chasing these runs, Kolkata won the match by scoring 3 runs.
With this victory, they won the match in Super Over for the first time in the last 11 years. He had earlier lost in 2009 and 2014 against Rajasthan Royals in a Super Over. He also had to concede defeat against Delhi Capitals in 2019.
