TOKYO (Sputnik) – The United States and Japan began eight days of military maneuvering at a base in Tokyo with tensions with North Korea as a backdrop, local agency Kyodo said.
The exercises called Yama Sakura are based on a computer simulation involving 1,600 American soldiers and 5,000 Japanese military.
In the maneuvers, several scenarios are considered, such as the landing of sabotage groups, cyberattacks and an electromagnetic pulse attack.
The training is carried out after the series of flights carried out by American spy planes along the border line between the two Koreas.
This Monday, an American RC-135 aircraft was detected in the area. Other flights were registered on December 2, 3, 5 and 6.
