Russian frigate "Admiral Essen" fires "Kalibr" missiles in the Black Sea – video


The frigate of the Russian Navy, "Admiral Essen", shot down cruise missiles of the type "Kalibr" in the Black Sea. The corresponding video has been released by the Russian TV channel "Zvezda".

A cruise missile hit a target on the coast, which was 250 kilometers away, in 137 seconds. The trajectory of the "Kalibr" rocket was monitored by supersonic fighters and the target meeting was recorded with drones.

This is the second frigate of the project 11356 and one of the newest ships of the Russian Navy. It was built in the Russian Kaliningrad region in the shipyard "Jantar" and named in honor of the admiral of the Russian Navy, Nikolai von Essen. Since June 2016, it is in service with the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

The frigate has a displacement of about 4,000 tons, can reach a speed of 30 knots and remain autonomous on the high seas for 30 days. The "Admiral Essen" has "Kalibr" cruise missiles, a "Schtil-1" self-defense missile complex, a 100-millimeter caliber artillery, anti-aircraft artillery and a reactive bomb system.

"Kalibr" is a Russian missile family. It was developed in the 1980s in the design office "Nowator" and is manufactured by the armaments company "Almas-Antei".
