In the coming years, the Arctic divisions of the Northern Fleet of the Russian Navy will receive S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems, which will create an anti-aircraft dome over the Russian part of the Arctic.

According to the commander of the Northern Fleet, Vice Admiral Alexandr Moiseyev, the Antiaircraft Missile Troops and the Radiotechnical Troops are "equipping and retrofitting."

"This year, the S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems have entered into service of the anti-aircraft missile regiment deployed in (the Russian archipelago in the Arctic) New Zembla. It is expected that in the coming years all of our Arctic divisions will be equipped with such systems "said the commander.

According to Moisesyev, with the S-400, the Arctic will be protected from any type of enemy air attack, either aviation, or cruise or ballistic missiles.

In early December, Moisesyev pointed out that increasing the military presence of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in the Arctic may result in a growing potential for conflict in this region.
