"If we want stability in Europe on the one hand and conflict reduction on the other, we need to enter into a strategic dialogue with Russia," he said in a joint press conference with US President Donald Trump, held at the NATO summit in London. .
At the same time the French president stressed the importance of dialogue with Russia "without naivety".
It is not the first time that Macron calls for a dialogue with Russia.
At the end of last August, in a speech before the French ambassadors, the French leader stressed the need to consider a joint strategy with Russia on space and cybersphere.
The NATO summit is held on December 3 and 4 in the British capital.
