"Lack of government" from MDR? Sender separates himself from actor and cabaret artist Uwe Steimle

The Mitteldeutsche Rundfunk (MDR) ends its collaboration with the cabaret artist and actor Uwe Steimle. The program director Wolf-Dieter Jacobi justified this on Wednesday with repeated public allegations against the station.

Therefore, the series "Steimles World" will not get a sequel next year.

Steimle had repeatedly questioned the independence of the MDR in his remarks, criticized Jacobi. So he has 2018 in an interview for the "Young Freedom" the public service broadcasting, among others "Lack of government" accused.

"The MDR made it publicly clear even then that this statement is unacceptable to him," says Jacobi.

After renewed public charges against the broadcaster because of a lack of loyalty to the cabaret artist now reached the point where further cooperation would be impossible.

No basis for trusting cooperation

Steimle had in a conversation with the "Thuringian general" from 16 November "shocked and sad" shown that the MDR is not protective of him. The Mitteldeutsche Rundfunk responded on Wednesday that they had "stuck to it despite contentually questionable statements". After the renewed accusation, however, the station sees no basis for a trusting cooperation.
The Dresden-born actor and cabaret artist gained wide publicity as Commissioner Jens Hinrichs in the TV series Polizeiruf 110.
