The foreigners' representatives of eight federal states are calling for the admission of underage refugees who must remain in Greek camps, isolated from families.
As can be seen from a declaration published on Tuesday in Erfurt, the approximately 4,100 children and adolescents were affected above all by the absolutely inadequate care on the Aegean islands. "Only a few of them are age-appropriate," it said. In many cases, housing provides for underage migrants considerable danger
of life and limb ".
The Thuringian refugee commissioner Mirjam Kruppa criticizes:
"The need is known, and those who just watch are complicit."
The letter appealing to the interior ministers of the federal and state governments was also signed by her counterparts from Berlin, Brandenburg, Bremen, Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saxony-Anhalt and Schleswig-Holstein.
Aid organizations have recently criticized "terrible conditions" in the Greek camps, where tens of thousands of refugees are housed.
