The Russian Ministry of Defense recently contracted to purchase Tor-type anti-aircraft missile systems with a total value of 100 billion rubles.

Russia has been making Tor systems since the 1980s. The "Tor" system has undergone many developmental modernization processes so that the modern model (Tor-M2) differs greatly from what came into service in the mid-eighties of the twentieth century. Today, the Tor system is the only air defense system in the world that, while in motion, can fire missiles at enemy aircraft, and hit its target precisely when it is traveling on the unpaved road at a speed of 25 kilometers per hour.

The Tor system is a single mechanism that contains target detection radar, target tracking radar, communications and control means, and 8 anti-aircraft missiles. The Tor system searches for targets to destroy themselves, distinguish enemy aircraft from friends, and decide for themselves to fire. In fact, Tor is a fighting robot. No other country that manufactures the air defense media produces anything similar.

The Tor-M2 system has demonstrated its high effectiveness more than once while defending the Hmeimim military base in Syria where Russian Air Force aircraft are located. Most of the drones trying to attack Russian aircraft are shot down there by "Tor" missiles, according to the newspaper "Rossiyskaya Gazeta".
