The president of the Libyan Academy for Advanced Studies, Aref Al-Nayed, asked the UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salama, not to renew the Al-Wefaq government after December 17th.

Al-Nayed said in a statement obtained by the correspondent of "Sputnik" that "given the accelerated and dangerous actions carried out by the Presidential Council and his government, as well as its sovereign institutions in the foreign, security, oil, banking, and investment fields; the team's staff requests the prompt notification of the Presidential Council and his government not to automatically renew it And by notifying all the member states of the United Nations not to enforce its decisions, agreements and memoranda of understanding that he signs these days to the right and the north. "

"The sovereignty, capabilities and resources of the Libyan people are a great secretariat that must be respected, appreciated and preserved, and the failure to renew international recognition at the end of the fourth year of the presidential council and its government next Tuesday, December 17, 2019, is the best way to maintain that trust," the statement added.
The statement also touched on the demands made in recent days by several Libyan civil society bodies to withdraw international recognition of the Presidency Council and its government, in addition to the statement of the Egyptian and Greek Parliament that the Libyan Parliament is the only legitimate representative of the Libyan people.

The statement indicated that the date of the current December 17 is the date of the end of the third annual renewal (although the maximum renewal according to the Skhirat Agreement is for one additional year) after the end of the first year of the life of the Presidential Council and his government, according to the Skhirat Agreement, which stated that "a term of office The National Accord government is one year.
