The Iranian army is carrying out maneuvers simulating the defense of the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz


TEHRAN (Reuters) – The Iranian army said on Thursday it had held a "maneuvers for the skies of state 98" in northeastern Iran.

Iranian Air Defense Commander Brigadier-General Ali Reza Sabahi-Fard said that there will be joint exercises of the Iranian air defense entitled "Defenders of the skies of the state 98" in the public area of ​​Semnan in northeastern Iran;
"The joint air defense exercise area is a simulation of the Gulf region and the Strait of Hormuz," Sabahi said.

He explained that "these exercises aim to improve combat readiness and strengthen the air defense capabilities of the armed forces in conditions close to the real fighting and in an area of ​​416 thousand square kilometers in northeastern Iran."

"All equipment and systems used for detection, identification and engagement in the Gulf region and the Strait of Hormuz will participate in the maneuvers," he said.

"In these exercises, various types of low, medium and long-range missile and radar systems will be used to counter air threats," he said.
