The commander of Iran's air defense forces, Brigadier-General Ali Reza Sabahi-Fard, said the joint air defense maneuvers, "Defenders of the State Sky 98" in northeastern Iran, were a simulation of the Gulf region and the Strait of Hormuz.
Brigadier-General Sabahi Fard said the maneuvers were taking place on an area of 416,000 square kilometers in the general area of Samnan province in northeastern Iran.
The first stage of these exercises involves the detection and identification of the targets of the presumed enemy, and at a later stage the systems in the maneuvering battle with specific targets. In light of the planned plans, the most difficult and most realistic combat conditions will be tested.
Brigadier-General Sabahi Fard pointed out that one of the Iranian objectives of these exercises is to test the air defense capabilities of combat, so as not to penetrate the skies of the country, which is within the red lines of Iran.
The Iranian maneuvers are supposed to use state-of-the-art weapons and systems, which are among the finest air defense technologies in the world.
