Reza Ardakanian Iran's Minister of Energy In an exclusive interview with Sputnik News Agency, he answered the Sputnik reporter's questions.
Sputnik: What is the purpose of Iran's $ 5 billion loan from Russia and in what context will the loan be used?
Ardakan: Government loans are good opportunities in terms of economic calculations and repayment mechanisms compared to other so-called external sources of financing, and so are low interest loans. The interest on these loans is very low. This has been the subject of discussion for many years.
What has happened these days and weeks is our constant pursuit, and of course, the willingness and willingness of the Russian side to respond positively. We hope that we can take advantage of this loan. Its legal authorization was approved by the Islamic Consultative Assembly in 1395 and I have also discussed the issue of railways, thermal power plants, hydroelectric power plants and wagons.
Sputnik: More than 10 documents were signed during the 15th Joint Economic Commission between Iran and Russia on trade and economic cooperation. What parts of the permanent Iran-Russia agreements have been implemented?
Ardakan:What we have done so far is parts of those documents, and one of the most important was to speed up the accession of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Eurasian Agreement, which fortunately has been done and has been established since November 5.
We are holding meetings with responsible agencies and chambers of commerce in Iran. On December 10, 2010, they will come to Tehran at the invitation of the Secretary-General of the Eurasian Economic Union and their associates. We will hold a conference with active departments in government agencies and the private sector. The Secretary General will meet with Iranian officials. It is our hope that producers and traders will take this opportunity, especially this year when it comes to domestic production and export development.
