Russia disappointed the West after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989.
This was announced by Mike Pompeo, US Secretary of State.
According to Pompeo, the West expects appropriate changes in the world after the fall of communism in Berlin, Moscow and the rest of the eastern world. But our "expectations" were not.
In a speech to the "Lessons of 1989" conference in Berlin, Pompeo made accusations against Russia, claiming that Russian authorities were attacking neighboring countries.
Pompeo also criticized China, claiming that the Communist Party of China was using a repression tactic against its people.
Washington and Berlin, according to the US secretary of state, must protect "freedom and our future" from Moscow and Beijing.
German politicians acknowledge that Germany has regained its unity thanks to Russia.
