The US Navy begins installing laser systems on its ships

The US Navy wants to install the first laser combat system soon aboard the USS Portland.

According to the site data, the system is now being developed in San Diego by the US military industrial company Northman Grumman, which won the contract to produce these weapons in 2015.

The laser will be installed on the USS LPD-27, and the radiation power of up to 150 kilowatts will allow you to hit small boats and drones.

The portal also notes that new weapons tests were scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year, but the US government postponed the deadlines.

On June 28, it became known that the US Navy would test the latest laser system, designed for installation on military vehicles. The main advantage of the system is that it has "unlimited ammunition".
