“The situation is critical. The head of the WADA compliance commission, Jonathan Taylor, based on an expert opinion, said that they have no doubt: this is not an accidental change. You know, it happens that we work at a computer, press a key, once – and something is deleted. But the amount of data that was transferred by the Russian side to WADA representatives in January cannot be changed with one random click, ”the Izvestia quoted Ganus as saying.
According to him, Western colleagues expressed confidence that there was an intentional manipulation of data.
“It cannot be said that there was a voltage drop, lightning struck and something was erased there. Such an explanation will definitely not work, ”the publication of the word Ganus cites.
The head of RUSADA emphasized that the scandal could result in the Russian team being prevented from participating in the upcoming Olympics in 2020 and 2022. Ganus noted that now it is necessary to act “competently and judiciously”, since WADA representatives are currently waiting for explanations from Russian sports officials.
Earlier it became known that the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has begun the procedure for depriving the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) of its compliance with the World Anti-Doping Code.
“The reasons for this decision are inconsistencies between the LIMS base available to WADA and the Moscow laboratory data obtained in January 2019,” said Sergey Hrychikov, member of the RUSADA Supervisory Board.
He also explained that "the Russian side was invited to provide explanations of non-conformities to WADA within three weeks."
