CAF: The African Super in Qatar

Sheho Deco, member of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) club competitions committee, said the African Super Cup, which will bring together Esperance of Tunisia and Zamalek of Egypt, will be held in Qatar.

"The Super Cup will be in Qatar, of course. There is an agreement between K and Qatar to host the match for three copies, which started last season," Chihu Deco said on Thursday evening. According to the website "Yala Kora".

Esperance of Tunisia played the African Super Cup against Morocco's Raja Casablanca in March, and the Moroccan team managed to win the title at the time after winning 2-1.

Egypt's Zamalek, as the Confederate champions in the last edition, play against Esperance's Tunisian champions, but the date has not yet been decided, due to the postponement of the game earlier, due to crises raised in the Champions League final.

A member of the Competitions Committee continued:

We have not yet set a date and pitch for the match, due to the delay in resolving the situation of the African Champions League between Esperance and Wydad, but our only commitment is to have the match in Qatar because of the agreement signed.

A source within Zamalek club confirmed that Zamalek president Mortada Mansour asked the president of the African Union, Ahmed Ahmed, not to play the African Super match in the State of Qatar, as happened in the last version.

The request came from the president of Zamalek, due to the political crisis between Egypt and Qatar.

Zamalek was crowned African Confederation Championship, after the victory over the Moroccan rivals Berkane, on penalties 3/5, after the end of the original time of the game with a goal scored by Mahmoud Alaa, the same result of the first leg.

Morocco's Raja was crowned the last African Super Cup, held in Qatar, after beating Esperance of Tunisia.
