The UEFA Executive Committee decided on Tuesday in its meeting in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana that the final of the Champions League in 2022 will take place for the first time in ten years at the Allianz Arena in Munich. Host of the final 2021 will be Saint-Petersburg.

Thus, FC Bayern gets a chance for a ten years after losing to Chelsea "Final dahoam".

"We are very pleased that, after 2012, we will be able to host the final of the UEFA Champions League in our Allianz Arena after 2022," said Bavaria's CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. "On behalf of FC Bayern, I want to thank UEFA and its President Aleksandar Ceferin for their confidence."

The German Football Association also welcomed the bid for Bavaria's state capital. "With our local partners, we want to use the game as an organizational test run for the EURO 2024," said DFB Vice President Rainer Koch. "This decision also shows that German football, even without a seat on the international committees, continues to enjoy the highest regard for UEFA."

According to Ceferin, Russia's St. Petersburg will be the guests of the final in 2021 at the Gazprom-Arena (also known as Krestowski Stadium). It is already the third time that Russia will host a European final. In 1999, the winner of the UEFA Cup in the Moscow Lushniki Stadium was known. In 2008, the final of the Champions League was played there.
