The Bastion, a Russian fleet offshore, launched the Onyx anti-ship missile for the first time in history in the Chukota Peninsula.

According to Sputnik, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the Onyx missile had been flown on a regular basis and had hit the target ship more than 200 kilometers in the Chukotka Sea basin at the scheduled time.

The missile was launched from an unprepared position in accordance with a plan for military exercises in northeastern Russia. The equipment and armed forces deployed to the Pacific Ocean on a large Russian Navy vessel followed by a multi-kilometer journey to the Chukotka Peninsula to shoot missiles.

About ten warships and Russian fleet support in the Pacific as well as naval aircraft provided rocket launch security.
