JERUSALEM (Reuters) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday Israel was ready for possible involvement in any US-Iranian confrontation after attacks on Saudi oil facilities.

Asked if Iran might seek to provoke Israel, Netanyahu said: "I care about our security on a 360-degree basis, and I can tell you that we are well prepared," according to Reuters.

In the meantime, the Israeli army stopped civilian air traffic over all Israeli areas near the border with Lebanon, starting at dawn on Monday, and decided to impose a complete closure on the Palestinian territories in the West Bank and Gaza Strip on the eve of the general elections scheduled for Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Israeli general elections will be held to choose a new Knesset.
