The Australian government confirmed the allegation that US President Donald Trump has requested assistance from Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison regarding the Russian investigation carried out by Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller.

Speaking to the ABC channel, an Australian unnamed federal government spokesman confirmed the allegation that a meeting was held between US President Trump and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison on the Russian investigation.

"The Australian government has always been willing to support and co-operate efforts that help shed more light on the issues under investigation," the spokesman said in a statement.

Spokesman, "the Prime Minister, during the meeting with the US President confirmed this willingness once again," he said.

On the other hand, he did not provide any information as to when the meeting was held.
The New York Times (NYT) newspaper, based on two sources on the subject, Trump in a recent telephone conversation with Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison claimed that he asked for help with the Russian investigation.

Allegedly, Trump asked Morrison to help Australia's US Secretary of Justice William Barr to reconsider the Russian investigation and discredit it.
