7 killed by US air strike in southern Libya

KABUL (Reuters) – A US air strike killed seven people in southern Libya on Sunday, in coordination with the government of national reconciliation, US forces said.

The U.S. military command in Africa (AFRICOM) posted on its Twitter website that an air strike targeted ISIS and Libyan terrorists in southern Libya on September 29, 2019.

The US military had earlier said two separate air strikes killed 19 suspected militants in southern Libya.

Some ISIS militants retreated further south into the Libyan desert after the group lost its stronghold in the port city of Sirte at the end of 2016.
